I love how Fin’s mind works.  We take the everyday things for granted, and his logical mind is completely unshaped by acceptance of things based on the world around him.

I was keeping him occupied by playing word games.  I had him trace out each word in the alphabet, and cut them out.  We used an empty egg carton and randomly selected one letter for each cup.  While I sat and knit, he had to search the house looking for an object that started with each letter….

“U……Utensil”

“P………Pear”

“L……….”

He wandered off, only to return moments later with his hands on his hips looking into the room.  I was in the den, rocking in the rocking chair, and still knitting.  Fin was “hmmmmm”‘ing, and turned to me.

“Mama”

“uh huh”

“Why is this called the TV room? It should be the Lazy Room, all anyone ever does in in here is sit around and be lazy”.

“Fin! That is excellent!” Case in point:

Lazy Room

We now all call it the Lazy Room.

Now THAT is awesome. What an astute observation from the littl eman! ANd really, the fact that you can come up with such good games for him to play, well, that is pretty darn amazing too.

He really knows what things are for! Great game with the egg carton—-we’re not egg eaters but it occurs to me there’s so many uses for them.

My son loves to curl up just that way in the couch with the cushions.

And just wanted to say hi and hope all’s well after a long time—
