I hate to be in charge of the nightly ritual of tooth brushing. It can be a struggle with Fin, ADL’s are not is strong suit. Hubby has a knack for getting through the task relatively unscathed. When he brushes the kids teeth, he has them sing to open up.
“I LOOOOOVE a PARADE!”
“I LOOOOOVE Chocolate Chip cooookies!”
As I write, hubby is out shopping for records. I, the eternal cynic, reminded him he has no way to listen to them. All his equipment is still sitting in our un-sold house. He deflated, wandered out into the rain to flip through dusty stack regardless. The alone time is a Father’s Day gift from us.
The best things about him:
The things he loves the most, are often very simple
His patience, which none of the rest of us have
His eternal optimism
He plays with the kids (that’s their favorite thing they say)
His persistence
And his willingness to wash floors
With a spectrum child, there is a constant stream of anxiety, frustration, and titanic tantrums. He brings to the table a level of calm, and control that I times I am unable to master myself. He keeps me grounded, and the kids laughing.
Happy Father’s Day to a wonderful partner, fantastic dad, and all around good guy.
We love you Dodah!
