Tonight I am going to go to a girls night dinner with my family. My sister asked me if I was going to wear my pajamas, not an inappropriate question. For the sake of the participants I think I will actually find something in my laundry pile that is semi presentable, and sort of fits. That tends to be the constant state of my clothes these days.
I am going to take Raven with me, and leave her with my Dad. Every time hubby holds the baby, for some reason she cries. As soon as she leaves his arms, she stops. It is terrible! My Dad is a pretty even tempered kind of guy. My mom offered his services up to watch the baby so that I could attend the dinner, and I was a little skeptical. But I called him, and he was all for it. I tried to warn him, he will be taking her on during the worst part of her day, but he was pretty unruffled. He said as long as she will watch the Red Sox, he was AOK with it. My sister is also sending her husband over to watch the game so they can play, “Pass the Crank Monkey”. My Dad is so funny, he is so even keel that in the past he just holds her, he does not get ruffled at all, and eventually she settles. Don’t know what it is, but it is something. He is not a typical baby guy, but it is his granddaughter, so who knows.
I am sitting here dreaming of a sangria, or maybe a mojito. MMmmmm.
When I told Fin I would be gone for the night, he told me, “But I will MISS you”.
Drip….Drip…Drip…
That would the sound of my melting heart. After this morning’s bribe of munchkins to get him dressed, the fit he threw getting out the door, the resistance to wearing a hat, and the titanic scream he let out when I shut off the TV, it surprised me he said it.
We knew the day was off to a bad start, he was up in the middle of the night, I went into him before he got my bedroom and woke the slumbering p’nut. He was wandering around in his room in the pitch dark crying and calling my name. I was frantically waving my arms like an over turned beetle, “Fin….Fin….where are you?”
He came right over to me, does he have x-ray vision too? I put him back into bed, and he asked me to stay with him for a bit, and I did. I asked why he was up, he said he fell out of bed, but we are not sure. We have asked him that before, he may just respond to our question with that answer because we do not further probe him for why he is not sleeping. I am starting wonder if he has nightmares. When he did wake up for the day he came in our room with the grumpiest of faces on, hubby and I could not resist laughing. He climbed into our bed but did not want to be consoled, or touched in any way. We knew from that alone the morning would not go well.
Little Miss on the other hand:

Would sleep the day away in a perfect world. Slept last night from 8:30PM to 12:30AM, ate, wiggled for bit, was back asleep by 1:30AM until 6:30AM, went back to sleep at 9AM (it would have been earlier except we took Fin to school), and will likely sleep until noon. Then eat, and go back to sleep until 2PM. She is working hard on her beauty sleep.

Hi Quirky Mom– I’m digging the addition of the “Things I Want” section, and I’m tickled that you are also a Dansko lover. Damn those peskily adorable $100 shoes!
Raven sleeps in my favorite baby-sleeping position: Frogger.
